"Chris is one of my go-to designers when I need something well-executed, thought out and within the 'rush' that art directors face more than we like to admit. He's accommodating, easy to work with and I look forward to our projects together in the future!"
“Chris has been one of my favorite freelancers for more than 15 years. His conceptual, design and technical skills have made him my go-to guy for high quality and creative book covers.”— Cheryl Van Andel, Senior Art Director, Baker Publishing Group
"Effervescent creativity—that's what comes to mind when I think of Chris Tobias. He approaches his client's needs in a fresh and innovative way, exceeding expectations. In the deadline-driven world of publishing it's invaluable to have such a trusted, reliable partner."— Dawn Premako, P&R Publishing
"Chris is the guy you call when you need top-shelf, professional design done quickly and efficiently, but without any prima donna whining when the inevitable changes come through. Always recommended!"— Bruce Gore, Art Director, Howard Books
It's fun to work with Chris. He's provided book covers that are stunningly elegant and others that are quirky, fun, and lively. Chris is passionate about getting a cover design right.— Paula Gibson, Senior Art Director, Baker Publishing Group
"For the designs of the utmost highest, None better than Christopher Tobias."— Henry Sene Yee, Creative Director Deluxe, Picador
Chris Tobias has been designing “outerwear for books” since 1996. His work has appeared on hundreds of covers spanning many genres, including a number of New York Times bestsellers. His design is known for being clean, concept-driven and elegant. Because he is unencumbered by a large staff—or rather any staff at all—he is able to remain versatile and nimble, allowing him to work very quickly. Chris lives and works in the Middle-of-Nowhere, Michigan, in his home studio, surrounded by his doting wife, four perfect children and two less-than-perfect cats. And no, he no longer plays the tuba—and yes— it is for sale. Being a super nice guy he would love to chat about your book design needs.
